Aufgaben
The postdoctoral researcher will focus on developing and applying novel isolation methods, including high-throughput single-cell techniques, to enrich and isolate nitrifying microorganisms. Since standard isolation techniques often fail to yield novel nitrifying isolates, we are looking for a candidate with a strong background and proven experience in the cultivation, enrichment and isolation of nitrifiers from diverse habitats. Ideally, the candidate already employed highly innovative approaches to successfully enrich various ammonia- and nitrite-oxidizing microorganisms.
Anforderungen
• Experience in developing successful enrichment strategies for ammonia and nitrite oxidizers. • Expertise in applying various molecular techniques such as PCR-based methods and fluorescence in situ hybridization combined with microscopy. • Experience in cultivation and physiological assays to study the metabolism of nitrifiers. • Hands-on experience in single-cell separation techniques such as FACS or microdroplet is considered a plus. • Phd in a relevant field
